SAP ABAP Architect

Pay Range: $120,000 - $170,000 plus bonuses
Description:
This is a full time direct hire position. They are working a hybrid remote, onsite schedule working onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and remote from home on Monday and Friday.

The ABAP Architect is a member of the Business Process Excellence team and supports our client’s SAP environment.  The ABAP Architect is responsible for providing technical direction to other ABAP resources and ensuring innovative approaches are used in solution development.  Other responsibilities also include supporting and maintaining the SAP productive systems, debugging issues, designing, coding and testing enhancements.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development resources through the entire development life cycle.
  • Evaluate, interpret and understand business requirements delivered through Functional specifications or other means for complex and highly complex custom development.
  • Follow SAP’s technical roadmap and strategically aligning the company to future trends.
  • Prototyping new SAP technologies for use at the company and leading the implementation of the most relevant solutions with the ABAP resources.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risk of proposed solutions
  • Develop (code) and/or manage the development of a complete design as described in the Technical specification across all SAP technologies (i.e. reports, enhancements, forms, module pool, etc.) and business areas (primary focus is Manufacturing; PE, PP, QM, WM, APO, PM.  Secondary focus is in other areas such as OM, FI, CO)
  • Conduct Technical unit testing of the developed objects/solution and provide full life cycle documentation
  • On-board ABAP contractors and new employees
  • Define and maintain development standards for the team
  • Perform code and quality reviews of team member solutions
  • Monitor completed development objects through change control and deployment.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with all technical and functional teams
  • Provide high level technical and some functional consulting to internal and external customers and functional SME’s (subject matter experts).
  • Document and maintain development standards, object naming standards and development best practices.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide internal technical support and training to all ABAP developers. Set high standards and lead by example.
  • Proactively monitor system to identify potential areas of concern and take appropriate action
  • Analyze and tune system performance issues as they are encountered
  • Provide Level of Effort estimation for incoming development requests
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned
Skills required:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of ABAP development experience in SAP ECC version 6.0 or higher
  • In depth experience in multiple SAP business modules (Primary focus is in Manufacturing; PE, PP, QM, WM, APO, PM.  Secondary focus is in other areas such as OM, FI, CO)
  • Excellent hands on experience in all types of ABAP development (reports, enhancements, interfaces, function modules and module pool) 
  • Development experience in multiple SAP platforms (ECC, SRM, SCM, TM, etc.)
  • Solid working knowledge of ABAP objects (Object Oriented concepts)
  • Solid working knowledge of  BADI’s, BAPIs, Proxies, switch framework, IDOCs, Web services and Web Dynpros  
  • Solid working knowledge in SAP Smartforms and/or Adobe Forms
  • Demonstrated knowledge in SAP Workflow and workflow concepts
  • Exposure to BOPF framework, BRF Plus, OData services is a plus
  • Exposure or working knowledge of SAP Mobility technologies (SAPUI5, SUP, Syclo)
  • Experience with multiple types of integration points and integration tools
  • Experience across all phases of software development cycles
  • Experience working in a structured development environment
  • Proven experience mentoring a team of developers
